Early look at the new digs

We've just moved to our new office at 48 Wall.  Connectivity was a fairly typical nightmare, in fact, our phone service is still not fully functional, but...

It is an amazing space.  The founders happen to have spent most of their careers working for various Wall Street firms, but funny enough it is now, running a game company, that we wind up on Wall Street itself, and at a prestigious, New York City Landmark location to boot.

Here are some pictures from the office, slowly taking shape.  More will follow once we finish some decorating.

At War With The Galaxy

Just launched SpaceWars, after being in beta for a few weeks.  There have certainly been other attempts at mobile massively multiplayer games, but as people play, they'll realize we're redefining the genre to some extent, creating interaction between WAP and downloadable games on Cellufun and creating a new kind of entertainment experience.

Watch out, this game is very addictive, so may the fixed data plan be with you :)

First month MobilePet myPhone contest winners

It looks like in the US, KatNap takes the prize with an overwhelming victory.

Worldwide, it's long time Cellufun friend drjai7.

We are still reviewing all the scores and will post more details shortly.

Moving on up

We've been looking at spaces for some time, and rents being what they are in NYC, were quite happy to find a great place right on Wall Street.

Pictures of that unhumble abode will follow when we move in early August.  In the meantime, here's a quick picture of the crew in our incubator space.

Some thoughts on the mobile space

I spent some time recently with Longworth, our VC investor, sharing thoughts about the mobile space.  Here's the link

Our space on MySpace

Jake Duffy, who joined us in early July, just finished creating our MySpace page.

This is a bit of an experiment to us, where we'll float some game ideas and screenshots, and see what reaction we'll get.  And no, we're not starting a rock band :)

The obligatory iPost

Seems hardly anyone in our industry, or for that matter outside of it, can get away without commenting on the iPhone.  So I'll join the crowd.

Been playing with the iPhone for a while now -- both looking at our games, and device usage in general.

I must say that most people I've shown it to quickly get past the coolness factor to realize the device's very real limitations.  My sense is that the iPhone shows off user interfaces and technologies that will no doubt become ubiquitous, but not necessarily benefit from them directly.  More than one person remarked, for instance, that the touch screen technology might be fantastic in a tabet PC -- so I would watch out for new Apple notebooks using it.

Climbing the roller coaster

Any startup inevitably goes through ups and downs, and few ups can compare to the feeling we've had over the last couple of days, launching Mobile Pet myPhone

It's always great, of course, to see a new game get played and grow in popularity so quickly.  I knew we were on the right path where kids at several holiday parties I attended over the last week started demanding their parents phones to play the game.  But we quickly gained real recognition as well, making it to major blogs such as Techcrunch  and Mashable

Even the mainstream media got into the act, with Kim Hart from the Washington Post  picking up the story.

So what does all this mean?  Well, for one, it's nice to be noticed :)  For more than 2 years, millions of players from all over the world have been playing our games, and yet we've been strangely under the radar, reasonably well known in the investment and mobile community, but unknown otherwise.  Clearly that started changing this week.

We'll be updating the blog regularly with posts from me and the rest of the guys, and try to get you an insight into Cellufun, a bit of a backstage pass, if you will.  And we look forward to your comments as well, of course -- let us know what you think!

So why "climbing the coaster" as the title of our first post?  We know we can climb, much, much higher.  We know they'll be breathtaking plunges along the way.  And we look forward to it.

You see, for us, as it happens, it is all fun and games.
